RUSSIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL June 2009 The Daily News, the Russian American Foundation, the City of NY, and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg continue to join forces in the 7th Annual Russian Heritage Festival. The 7th annual Russian Heritage festival continues the exciting and important tradition of celebrating the New York community of émigrés from the Former Soviet Union. The community has grown to be over one million strong in the tri-state area. The month-long celebration of the arts and culture in the area's vast and vibrant Russian-speaking community will take place throughout the month of June in New York City. The Russian Heritage Festival - the only event of its kind in the U.S. - routinely attracts over 200,000 people to its presentation of contemporary and traditional music and dance performances, art exhibitions, health and sports fairs, business expos, and other events.

JUNE 7, 2009 (11 am - 5 pm) TOGETHER IN NY COMMUNITY FESTIVAL Annual Community Festival will demonstrate the tremendous diversity of Russian culture and will provide a celebratory environment during which visitors will enjoy performances, crafts, artists, ethnic foods, as well as learn about various businesses and organizations interested in servicing the community. Community Festival will be filled with endless fun, free carnival attractions for children, performances, and mouthwatering foods drawing public of all ages and ethnicity. JUNE 14, 2009 (11 am - 5 pm) COMMUNITY HEALTH & SPORTS FAIR Annual Health Fair provides the community with a well-rounded exposure of the many health options available for individuals of all ages in this important, health oriented community. Traditional and complimentary health care providers, as well as fitness, senior services, nutrition and wellness counselors are invited to be on-hand to educate the public and provide information on important health-related issues. This is an outstanding opportunity for health care providers to showcase their services and to meet face to face with the community. There will be providers of free services on site (PSA testing, blood pressure testing, etc.) The event provides a full day of education and entertainment. JUNE 20, 2009 RUSSIAN AMERICAN BOOK FAIR Russian Heritage Festival presents the first ever in New York Russian American Book Fair. Top Russian authors, publishers, book stores, children's books will participate in this historic event. Specia guests from Russia include writers Andrey Dementiev, Yuriy Polyakov, Boris Grachevskiy ans well as artist Zurab Tsereteli. Special presentation - The Prose of Jewish Life: A Book Series of International Autors in the Russian Language on Jewish themes.
